Resilience Training, Stories, and Health

Article

This article examines how resilience and peer support through the creative arts can contribute to the mental health of Veterans and their families.

Abstract

My work in resilience training is focused on helping the helpers. In 2012, I was artist-in-residence at the Royal Military College of Canada, and I have conducted workshops for the College since 1992. This article is based on a talk I gave in 2014 for the Military and Veteran Health Research Forum in Toronto about what resilience and peer support through the creative arts - particularly drama - can contribute to the mental health of Veterans and their families.
