This doctoral study explores the financial situation of military families. The work considers the effect of military service on the military household, from a life course perspective, taking into account the timing of military service within the life course, relationship implications and human agency. This study indicates that involvement in the military is tied to having lower financial well-being, through taking account of measures such as income, savings and debt.
