For this study semi-structured interviews were conducted with 11 student veterans to understand their experiences as student veterans and what could be done to improve their experiences of higher education.
As research continues to grow on student veterans, it is important that we recognize the multiple identities within the student veteran demographic. Graduate student veterans remain largely un-researched. This qualitative, descriptive study seeks to understand the lived experiences of graduate student veterans at a large research university in the southwest. Themes from the study include identity, matriculation, money matters, community, the demystification of the veteran, and graduate perspectives on undergraduate veterans.
