Associated Articles:

After bricklaying and HGV driving I became a psychologist. My PhD was on the long term psychological effects of World War two, focusing on British veterans. Since then I have extended this research to other conflicts and also examined traumatic stress more widely. I currently focus on the importance of narrative in order to understand and deal with traumatic stress. I have written a number of books, including Landscapes of Trauma (Routledge, 2019) and Memory, War and Trauma (Cambridge UP, 2010), along with numerous academic articles. I currently work at the University of Nottingham as an associate professor and I am a docent at the University of Helsinki.
