Mary Beth began her career as a health economist in 1989 with Alberta Health and then moved on to work for three federal departments in Ottawa: Statistics Canada, the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board and Health Canada. Mary Beth is currently working with the Research Directorate of Veterans Affairs Canada. She joined Veterans Affairs in 1995 and the Research Directorate in 2008. Over her career she has worked on policy and research initiatives related to the continuum of care, the cost-effectiveness of home care versus long-term facility care, the health of aging war service Veterans and more recently released Veterans and forecasting models for predicting the use and cost of various health care, rehabilitation and disability compensation programs. She led the first cycle of three cycles (2010, 2013 and 2016) of the Life After Service Studies program of research and continues to lead the income record linkage component. In 2015, she was appointed to a NATO research panel on transition to civilian life. Her research interests include work disability, equity in disability compensation, population health, ageing, income, employment, and measuring outcomes.
