I am currently assisting on the Blesma Families Study, which explores the impact of amputation and limb loss on veterans and their families. I think it is important that we reach a better understanding of how physical trauma or disabilities affect every day life both for the person who actually experiences something like losing a limb, and for those around them who care for or assist them on a daily basis. I am also interested in how people actually talk about issues that are personal, that some people still consider taboo, or that people simply find difficult to articulate.
Is anybody else working on research in areas related to physical health? What are you interested in researching into in this regard? Where are the gaps in our knowledge?
