The question of how to collect information/data on our Armed Forces/veteran community, both for research purposes and public record, in a legal, fair and unobtrusive way, is one that continues to invite discussion. I was at a meeting today where people were questioning, how can we know what support needs putting in place and where if we have no central way of collecting and sharing information on where, for example, veterans are residing? Do veterans want that information registered and shared with specific organisations? etc

As part of this discussion I learnt more about the Royal British Legion’s campaign ‘Count them in’, for there to be a question included on the UK Census that asks people to identify if they have been a member of the British Armed Forces.

What do you think? Is this something you think you would pledge your support for?
